In "real life" i am a successful financial markets trader and own a well known and widely read website with a large subscriber base of people hanging off my every financial word of wisdom. The trouble is it is a bit high pressured and sometimes i just like to kick back and relax.
In my spare time then, i like to gamble. With varying degrees of success but it seems potentially beatable as i have made money out of gambling for a little while consistently now. No, i'm not talking thousands upon thousands, if you want that then you will have to go and learn to become a financial trader like my usual day job is - that is where money can be made or lost in such volumes more consistently.
Gambling necessarily has a "house edge" and anyone who tells you it is possible to beat that by trading XYZ system forevermore (especially through online gaming) needs their head seriously examining. The ONLY way i have found to make money thus far is to WALK AWAY when the account looks good and in the meantime while you are waiting to hit your target, try to stay in the game as long as possible.
As a financial trader, i have a lot to bring to the gambling knowledge base online. I am a big fan of mathematics, statistics, anything to do with figures. In financial trading, we use "discipline" and "money management", terms which are also familiar and useful in the gambling arena. I feel i will be able to come at the whole gambling subject from a very different angle to most people online. My objective is to provide information, not to use this as a forum for advertising. We may do a review here or there of the odd casino, but apart from that i wouldn't expect to see any big flashing banners and promises of eternal wealth. If you are looking for that then you have come to the wrong place for sure!
Right now, my main focus has been on Blackjack. Blackjack being the most attractive of all the (approximately) 50-50 bets on offer in the casino and having the lowest house edge, if played exactly according to basic strategy. I have been applying some of my trading money management strategies to blackjack with varying degrees of success. Likewise i have also applied some common gambling techniques to my trading !!
Well, that's all for now. I'll update soon - perhaps starting with the very basics and moving onwards from there.
'til next time...
