Anti-Martingale / Reverse Martingale

This strategy is basically what the name says. It is the traditional Martingale strategy but in reverse. This makes for some interesting scenarios and in my opinion is not so heart stopping to trade! There are a few quirks to the strategy which mean it cannot be applied in quite the same way as the traditional Martingale. When you do manage to hit a win with this strategy the win will be large, which is a real motivator.

The strategy involves doubling your bet every time you WIN. When you lose, go back to your original starting bet. Have a stop-point when you stop doubling your bet and just take the money and bank it. This is usually anywhere from 4 to 8 completed wins.

The Anti-Martingale is not a straight up reversal of the traditional Martingale in that you cannot obviously keep doubling up on your wins forevermore as you would end up never banking any profits! Here is an example of how this may typically be played (on a winning run!):-

Bet A: Bet 1 unit - WIN
Bet B: Bet 2 units - WIN
Bet C: Bet 4 units - WIN
Bet D: Bet 8 units - WIN
Bet E: Bet 16 units - WIN
Bet F: START AT 1 UNIT AGAIN (Bank your profit of 32 units!)

In this example we needed 5 wins in a row in order to have doubled up enough times to cash out. If you want to win bigger and you are adequately bankrolled (and have the patience) you may consider increasing this to around 8 wins a row (and hence 128 units profit).

The biggest drawback of this strategy is that you will be waiting around for a while to hit your winning run. During the time you are trying to obtain your winning run of consecutive wins, you will experience a slow draining on your account (if you are using reasonable bets) or a fast drain (if using outlandish, large bets). I suggest keeping the bet size down to a minimum, especially in the beginning, for this reason. Sometimes it may take hundred, or even several thousand attempts before hitting your winning run, depending on how many in a row you are aiming for. There will of course be plenty of losing runs in the meantime and you need to be aware of this and fully prepared.

I found the Anti-Martingale to be pretty good for playing Blackjack, where Blackjacks can add a little to your pot as you go along, as well as the double downs, etc, which will result in the money sometimes being drained more slowly than had you been betting on red on roulette. If you are playing this against a live dealer you also have the added bonus of the cards being potentially skewed for a short while in your favour resulting in a nice easy consecutive run of wins. As with all money management strategies played on Blackjack you must ensure you have the basic strategy down and dusted before considering trading progressive (increasing bet) strategies.

Winning consecutive runs do happen surprisingly often, and if you are lucky enough to hit a few of these you can really make some serious money in a short period of time. The way i trade this strategy is to have a bank of around $1000, divided up into either $100 or $200 amounts. Each of these i will put with a different casino and bet with them until the money runs out. Out of ten $100 deposits i might only win on around a third of them (3 or 4 deposits), yet often this is enough to turn a nice amount of profit, and have a bit of fun in the process.
